Friday Song Of The Day – If You Leave Me Now

|

This installation of the Friday Song Of The Day is brought to you by… ummm, the polar bears. You can’t really see any where I am at because they are all further north. Anyway, here’s a nice depressing love song to go along with my furlough in Fairbanks, Alaska. Chicago’s If You Leave Me Now which can be found on the album The Very Best Of Chicago: Only The Beginning.

If you leave me now
you’ll take away the biggest part of me
oooh no, baby please don’t go

And If you leave me now
You’ll take away the very heart of me
oooh no, baby please don’t go
oooh girl, I just want you to stay

A love like ours is love that’s hard to find
how could we let it slip away

We’ve come too far to leave it all behind
how could we end it all this way

When tomorrow comes and we both regret
the things we said today

A love like ours is love that’s hard to find
how could we let it slip away

We’ve come too far to leave it all behind
how could we end it all this way

When tomorrow comes and we both regret
the things we said today

If you leave me now
you’ll take away the biggest part of me
oooh no, baby please don’t go

oooh girl, just got to have you by my side
oooh no, baby please don’t go
oooh mama, just got to have your lovin

Finally for a nice treat, here is a video of Chicago performing this song live in 1976. I’m not real sure what fashion statement Peter Cetera is trying to make. It looks like he started out to put on the disco getup that John Travolta wore in Saturday Night Fever, but instead of the white blazer he chose a letterman jacket. Then there is the oh so beautiful feathered mullet (hair). Enjoy! Click through to the site if you cannot see the video.
